Culture Stickmen by Marvin Gustilo
This is our way of trying to make a highly commercial setup into something that feels more authentic despite the medium.
While having fun with the pre-coded features since we're not coding wizards.
Dear reader,
It’s Nikki here, 1/2 of the founding BK team.
Here’s a more personal slice of this website, built on commercial templates while trying to communicate warmth and genuine connection. How funny that people have managed to do that in branding through the use of natural light, earthy palettes, and quite literal white-washing.
The sample body that came with this section was:
“We're not here to follow trends—we're here to build something timeless. With a blend of creativity, strategy, and heart, we help ideas come to life.”
They should have used a semi-colon after heart, I believe.
Since these things were built to be duplicated or filled with minimal effort, the irony reveals itself. Templates are very helpful for those who don’t have time to build something from scratch (and when it comes to coding, truly it takes an enormous amount) but this practice removes texture from the outcome. That’s not a bad thing; some things need to be smooth so they don’t bother people after all. That’s why the hypercapitalist system is designed to be as easy as possible.
The picture you see is my cluttered setup, taken on December 17, 2025 at 3:48 pm in Iligan City, the hometown of my husband. Luckily, it was sunny when I snapped it for an *:・゚✧ aesthetic *:・゚✧ shot. The clouds just rolled in when I sat back down to type. Ngl, writing this page is a little scary considering it’s the same site that we present to older investors, but that’s why I hid this page underneath other pages.
At the same time, I pay Squarespace my “3rd world” money to beg these institutions for their accumulated currency that so stubbornly circulates above us. I think we deserve to use this site however we please.
Here’s the playlist I was listening to while making this page.
